Connecting the Dots: From Prevention to Recovery

Prevention is where it all begins. If we do our due-diligence by talking about our recovery, perhaps we can impact a person’s decision to begin drinking or drugging; seek treatment for a mental and/or substance use disorder; or stop or discontinue a behavior that could lead to disastrous consequences. Here are things you can do RIGHT NOW. Pledge your support and take action to prevent substance use and promote mental health in your own life and the lives of those in your community.

While the following pledge is part of the new National Prevention Week to be held every May, you can make a difference in the lives of others every day of the year. Your actions resonate with, “A journey of 1000 miles begins with the first step…” Help others around you. Commit yourself to prevention – the first step.
